The incident began in the early hours of Wednesday morning, when management at the salvage yard spotted the suspects on camera and alerted the authorities. As the officers closed in, the burglary suspect allegedly rammed the patrol car, causing a collision that resulted in a trailer being detached. Undeterred, the suspect then opened fire on the deputies, unleashing a volley of five to six shots in a desperate bid for freedom.

At the scene, one suspect, later identified as Brenton Zeiler, 29, was taken into custody.
